The Petco Foundation has proclaimed June National Foster a Pet Month, and is urging people to foster a pet, particularly during the summer when shelters are over-crowded.. Fostering pets on a temporary basis not only gives them time to find an adopted home, but living in a secure family atmosphere contributes to their overall emotional and physical health as well. Fostering also frees up additional space in shelters to accept more pets, thus saving more lives.
