Nonprofit organizations have many positive benefits on individuals and communities. That was why National Nonprofit Day was established, to bring to light the hard work these organizations — large and small — do each and every day. This national day is observed on August 17 each year because on Aug. 17, 1894 the Tariff Act was signed into law, which included exemptions for nonprofit organizations and charitable institutions.
