May is known as Hepatitis Awareness Month or National Hepatitis Month. Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C are liver illnesses that can become chronic, life-long infections which can lead to liver cancer. Millions of Americans are living with chronic viral hepatitis, and many do not know they are infected.
This is a time to raise awareness of and increase research on viral hepatitis, while also promoting prevention through schools, health departments, churches, community organizations and other groups.
