National Metric Week

October 6th - October 12th
Since 1976, National Metric Week is a time to observe the importance of the metric system as the primary system of measurement for much of the world. The system was first proposed by the French astronomer and mathematician Gabriel Mouton (1618–94) in 1670 and was standardized in France under the Republican government in the 1790s.
