The Cuban Sandwich, also known as a "Cubano," originated in Cuba but became most at home in Florida. The sandwich traditionally is made of ham, roasted pork, swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard served on Cuban bread. It is then pressed and grilled like a panini, and served with any number of delicious sides. National Cuban Sandwich Day was born in 2016 when a Tampa Bay reporter set out to create a food holiday as a hoax. What resulted was a very real food holiday that is now on events calendars annually.
