Greyhounds can sprint at a speed of 45 miles per hour. What made them popular on the racetrack may fade as greyhounds age. Too many greyhounds have been cast aside when they can no longer win. While many areas have banned the sport, there are still many dogs that have been relinquished to shelters when their utility is up. This doesn't mean they can still make warm and affectionate pets. National Greyhound Adoption Month gives people the perfect opportunity to see greyhounds in their glory and welcome one into their home.
