During National Wilderness Month, individuals can recommit to preserving the places that remind them of who they are and of all that the American nation is. This includes a promise to protect America's incomparable natural splendor so it can endure and shape the lives of generations to come. The wilderness is any remote or rural place which is only lightly touched by human intervention.
