National Caesar Salad Day celebrates one of the more popular types of salad that accompanies meals all over the world. The salad was created by Caesar Cardini, an Italian Immigrant who developed a restaurant business in Mexico and the United States. Cardini invented the recipe at his Caesar’s Bar and Grill, in 1924. Supposedly kitchen staff were running low on inventory during a 4th of July party and the dish was concocted using random ingredients found in the kitchen. The end result is a tossed salad that features romaine lettuce and a tangy dressing of Cardini's creation.
