Founded to honor American women whose contributions “have been of the greatest value in the development of their country” and located in the community known as the “birthplace of women’s rights,” where the first Women’s Suffrage Movement convention was held in 1848, the Hall of Fame was dedicated with 23 inductees. An earlier National Women’s Hall of Fame, honoring “Twenty Outstanding Women of the Twentieth Century,” was dedicated at the New York World’s Fair, on May 27, 1965.
