On this day in 1998, the internet search engine company Google was incorporated by Sergey Brin and Larry Page in Menlo Park, Calif. At that time, Google was receiving 10,000 queries despite still being in beta. Within a year that number had jumped to 3 million searches a day. Before long Google became the most popular search engine and to "google" something became a verb in popular culture.
