The Girl Scouts organization was begun by Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low, who gathered 18 girls in her hometown of Savannah, Georgia, to share what she had learned abroad about a new outdoor and educational program for youth. These first Girl Scouts pioneered what turned into an organization for girls to experience many things, and learn what it means to be a leader.
