Irish coffee is a beverage made with black coffee, sugar, cream and Irish whiskey. Rumor has it that it was dreamed up by Joseph Jackson, of Jackson’s hotel Ballybofey county Donegal, who while fighting in World War II made the drink in an effort to keep his fellow comrades awake through the night under attack from German soldiers. Today it is served around the world and is a popular libation for keeping warm on cold nights.
