The ANA initiated "National RN Recognition Day" on May 6, 1996, to honor the nation's indispensable registered nurses for their tireless commitment 365 days a year. The ANA encourages its state and territorial nurses associations and other organizations to acknowledge May 6, 1996 as "National RN Recognition Day."
National RN Recognition Day, a.k.a. National Nurses Day, marks the kick-off of National Nurses Week — dedicated to recognizing nurses. Nurses play an integral role in society, and are some of the hardest-working people in all medical fields. Special luncheons, gifts and other methods of recognition frequently are offered during this time. National Nurses Week culminates on May 12, which is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who was the pioneer of professional nursing.
Health-related events are always in season. Use National Nurse's Day to target potential advertisers like health centers, doctors' offices, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, and other health-related businesses.
