Gerald Ford served as the 38th president of the US from 1974 to 1977. Born Leslie King at Omaha, NE, Ford became 41st vice president of the US on Dec 6, 1973, by appointment, following the resignation of Spiro T. Agnew from that office on Oct 10, 1973. Ford eventually also became president on Aug 9, 1974, following the resignation from that office on that day by Richard M. Nixon. He was the first nonelected vice president and president of the US.
