This is a program devoted to preventing the overpopulation of cats, which can lead to abandonment and overcrowding of shelters. Spaying cats before "kitten season," which is early spring into summer, is ideal. Cats can be spayed successfully between the ages of 4 to 5 months. It has been estimated that if even 35 percent of cat guardians would spay/neuter before maturity, the birth rate of cats would fall enough to ensure that every cat has a chance at a good home.
