National Chopsticks Day

February 6th, 2023

Chopsticks are utensils that are primarily used to enjoy Asian cuisines. They were developed about 5,000 years ago in China. Due to the traditionally small bits of food in Chinese cooking, forks and knives were unnecessary. Chinese chopsticks, called kuai-zi (quick little fellows), are usually 9 to 10 inches long and rectangular with a blunt end. Japanese, Korean and other chopsticks may vary in shape and end design. National Chopstick Day pays homage to chopsticks and how they have become invaluable tools around the world.
