Cotton candy, originally called "fairy floss," actually was invented by a dentist and was a hit at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. Since then it has been a staple at fairs and carnivals in hometowns all across the country. National Cotton Candy Day is a sweet day to take a bite of this sugary treat.
