NED Awareness Week provides opportunities for eating disorders organizations, mental health professionals, educators, families and concerned individuals around the world to join together to distribute information and plan events relating to eating disorders. At least 30 million people of all ages and genders suffer from an eating disorder in the U.S. 1, 2. Every 62 minutes at least one person dies as a direct result from an eating disorder. Eating disorders are a type of mental illness with the highest rate of mortality, but treatment can help save lives.
