National Fire Prevention Week

October 8th - October 14th

Company: Office of State Fire Marshal
Web site:

An event geared to increasing awareness of the dangers of fire and to educating the public on how to stay safe from fire. Fire Prevention Week is on record as the longest running public health observance, according to the National Archives and Records Administration’s Library Information Center. In 1920, President Woodrow Wilson issued the first National Fire Prevention Day proclamation, and since 1922, Fire Prevention Week has been observed on the Sunday through Saturday period in which October 9 falls. The President of the United States has signed a proclamation proclaiming a national observance during that week every year since 1925.

Local fire alarm and suppression system dealers can be reminded to promote their fire prevention installation services as part of Fire Prevention Week.
