UN: World AIDS Day

December 1st, 2023

Company: National AIDS Trust
Web site: http://www.worldaidsday.org

On December 1, 1988 the World Health Organization of the UN declared this day as World AIDS Day, an international day of awareness and education about AIDS. The WHO is the leader in global direction and coordination of AIDS prevention, control, research and education. A program called UN-AIDS was created to bring together the skills and expertise of the World Bank, UNDP, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNFPA and the WHO to strengthen and expand national capacities to respond to the pandemic.

There are many of ways to get involved and share the word about education and tolerance: in school, in college or university, in the workplace or in any other setting. Wearing of the red ribbon is also key symbolism of AIDS support and awareness.

Metro's Image Library has red ribbon illustrations and images that can be used in conjunction with World AIDS Day promotions.
