World Pulses Day was first observed in 2019 and came on the heels of International Year of Pulses 2016. It was created to heighten public awareness of the nutritional benefits of eating pulses, which are nutritious seeds. They help contribute to sustainable food systems. Pulses are the dried seeds of the legume plants. Hundreds of different varieties of pulses are grown around the globe. Source: www.un.org
