United Nations: International Day Against Nuclear Tests

Since 2010, this event galvanizes member states, intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations, academic institutions and more to advocate for the banning of nuclear weapon tests. The General Assembly declared this day to be observed annually, commemorating the closure of the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test site on August 29, 1991.
