We called it "disruptive advertising" at the Idaho Press-Tribune, wherein we would have an element in the ad run into the editorial copy in some way and the story would wrap around it.  It was highly effective for the advertiser while we were still doing it, but then we just quit.  Not sure why.  Wish I had kept a few examples to show, but that was at least 15 years ago.
